Abstract:

The Sardinia Passive Array Experiment (SPAE) was carried out in central-northern Sardinia (Italy), between July 2014 and September 2016, with the main goal of acquiring new data for studies on the lithospheric structure and seismicity of the Sardinia-Corsica block. The array consisted of 8 three-component stations, deployed progressively through the observing period. Stations were equipped with Reftek RT130 digitizers and mainly Lennartz 3D/5s sensors. A Nanometrics Trillium Compact 120s seismometer was also installed. The temporary network recorded in continuous mode at 100 sps. The collected dataset includes over 250, Mw > 5.5, teleseisms , occurred worldwide. A number of local earthquakes were also detected during the campaign, both at the borders, beneath the Tyrrhenian and Western Mediterranean seas, and within the continental block in the Bonifacio strait, and Gallura (northern Sardinia). The seismic survey was complemented by site selection for new permanent stations of the Italian National Seismic network.
