Abstract:
Vulcano Island, Italy. Starting from July 2021, and in particular from early September, the INGV monitoring systems have highlighted the variation of some geophysical and geochemical signals on the Island. In particular, signals were recorded related to the variation in the activity of the hydrothermal system that feeds the fumaroles of the Fossa crater and the degassing area of the Palizzi Caves, located at the southern base of the volcanic cone.
On Saturday 2 October, the Italian Civil Protection issued an "amber alert" for the island of Vulcano in the Aeolian archipelago in Sicily, due to significant changes in various volcanic parameters.
The Etneo Observatory of Catania of the INGV has therefore installed a temporary network to improve the seismic monitoring of the volcanic island
