Finite source from geodetic data
The rupture distribution along the seismic source is derived from the analysis of displacement maps (InSAR) obtained through the processing of Sentinel-1, European Space Agency, radar images. InSAR data are produced by the EPOSAR (IREA-CNR) service.

Focal Plane FP1

This source model, derived from 1 InSAR dataset(s) including 8 post-event days, is characterized by a single S-N oriented fault (strike -1°), dipping towards the E at 13° degrees and a mainly inverse rupture with a right-lateral component (rake 102°). The dip and rake angles have been fixed according to the focal mechanism. Slip peak is approximately 2.7 m at a depth of 33.5 km. The energy released is 1.2E+19 Nm, corresponding to an M 6.7 earthquake. InSAR data, model and ancillary information can be found in the data_and_model.zip file, available for download
Expected surface displacement scenario
This section shows maps of the predicted surface displacement based on a finite fault derived from focal mechanisms. Images contain maps of simulated displacement; they only provide qualitative indications about the expected displacement. Use the pull-down menu to select a scenario from those available. Finite fault dimensions and mean slip are based on the scaling factore in Leonard (2010), doi 10.1785/0120090189. Scenarios are available only for a limited period after the event
